REFLECTING ON MY PERSONAL WELL-BEING by Grace Yanger

 GRACE YANGER

As a third grade teacher, I spend my days guiding curious, energetic students as they learn and grow. Teaching is incredibly rewarding, but it also requires a great deal of time, patience, and energy. Over the years, I have learned that taking care of my own well-being is essential if I want to bring my best self to the classroom each day.

One of the ways I practice self-care is through traveling. Whether it is a weekend getaway, a road trip, or exploring a new destination during school breaks, traveling gives me the opportunity to step away from my daily routine and experience new places and cultures. It helps me recharge, gain fresh perspectives, and return to work feeling refreshed and inspired.

I also enjoy spending time with friends. Sharing meals, having meaningful conversations, and simply laughing together help me relieve stress and maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life. These moments remind me that I am more than my profession and that nurturing relationships is an important part of overall wellness.

One of my strengths is that I make time for activities that bring me joy and help me disconnect from work-related stress. I recognize the importance of maintaining friendships and creating experiences that support my emotional well-being. These habits help me stay positive and energized throughout the school year.

Reflecting on my wellness practices reminds me that self-care is an ongoing journey. By continuing to invest in experiences that bring me happiness and balance, I can be a healthier, more fulfilled teacher and a better role model for my students.
