REFLECTING ON MY PERSONAL WELL-BEING by Marife Entera

As a 1st and 2nd grade teacher, my days are filled with energy, movement, and constant interaction with young learners. To take care of myself, I try to maintain simple self-care habits such as getting enough sleep, taking short walks after school, staying hydrated throughout the day, and spending quality time with my family during the evenings. I also make it a point to set aside a few minutes each day to relax, whether by reading, listening to music, or simply enjoying some quiet time.

One of my strengths is that I recognize when I need a break and make an effort to prioritize activities that help me recharge. I also have a strong support system of colleagues and loved ones who encourage me when work becomes challenging.

However, I know there are areas where I can improve. There are times when I bring work home and spend too much time planning lessons or responding to emails, which can affect my work-life balance. I would also like to be more consistent with exercise and make time for activities that support my emotional well-being.

Reflecting on my wellness practices has helped me appreciate the habits that are working well while recognizing opportunities to better care for myself. By continuing to build healthy routines, I can become a more balanced, energized, and effective teacher for my students.
